In This Corner of the World follows Suzu’s adjustment to married life in wartime Kure. It makes room for domestic work and imagination while the historical situation presses ever closer.
A household within wartime history
The official English film site describes Suzu moving from Hiroshima to her husband’s family in Kure in 1944. The preserved record is for the film released in Japan on 12 November 2016, directed and scripted by Sunao Katabuchi, with Chie Uratani credited in a supporting direction and screen-composition role. Those are distinct credits rather than two identical director credits.
